Bicol still free of COVID-19, but persons watched because of symptoms rise to 8

GUINOBATAN, Albay—The number of persons showing symptoms of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) in Bicol has risen from three to eight on Wednesday (March 18).

A total of 19 persons with symptoms, tagged as persons under investigation (PUIs), had already tested negative for the disease and discharged from hospitals, according to the DOH in the region.

Albay province has five PUIs, while Camarines Sur has two.
Sorsogon province has also recorded its first PUI.

The number of persons under monitoring, or those with no symptoms but with a history of travel in infected places or contact with COVID-19 carriers, has reached 69,934.

At least 1,896 PUMs had already completed 14-day quarantine. The region is still free of COVID-19 as of 5 p.m. March 18.
