COVID-19 watch: 2 PUI cases in Tarlac die in hospital

TARLAC CITY—Two patients under investigation (PUIs) for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Tarlac province had died, local officials said on Wednesday.

Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap said the two PUI deaths were recorded at Tarlac Provincial Hospital.

Yap did not provide other details except that they were awaiting the results of the tests done by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine on the two cases of PUI deaths.

The Tarlac COVID-19 Task Force said they have yet to say if the two PUI cases tested positive or negative for COVID-19.

As of Wednesday, Tarlac has recorded 23 PUIs admitted in different hospitals.

Yap appealed to all Tarlaqueños to stay at home and comply with the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

“By staying home, you contribute to the containment of COVID-19,” Yap said.

In Capas town, stringent measures and disinfection were being carried out in churches, markets, schools and government buildings.

Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan said free food and possible increase of hazard pay and a free shuttle will be provided to all the medical teams in the municipality.
