Cotabato City on lockdown due to COVID-19

COTABATO CITY –– Cotabato City is on lockdown beginning 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 17.

Only health workers residing outside the city are allowed to enter after undergoing thermal scanning.

Food delivery trucks can also enter, but private vehicles and public transport are turned away.

“I know this is an abrupt move, but I am appealing to the public to understand the drastic measures that we are implementing,” Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi said in a statement.

The lockdown is a precautionary measure, Sayadi added.

All the city’s entry and exit points, including the tributaries, where motorboats are used in transporting people, are being monitored./lzb
