MANILA, Philippines — The government is considering to open “a specific mass transport” for health workers affected by the suspension of all public mass transportation under the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Tuesday.
“Isa sa topic namin ‘yung health workers, kung paano ‘yung transport. ‘Yan ang nasa frontline natin ngayon,” Año said over DZBB, when asked about the plight of stranded hospital employees who do not have any means of transportation.

“Marami tayong solusyon na naiisip diyan like pag-open ng specific mass transport sa health workers because they are our frontline warriors,” he added.

In the meantime, the government official said hospitals can ask help from local government units and nearby police stations for the transportation of their employees.

To date, the Philippines has 142 people infected with COVID-19, including 12 deaths and three recoveries.
The World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a pandemic since it has already infected more than 160,000 people and killed over 6,000 in over 140 countries all over the world.
