LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines — The government of Sorsogon province has imposed a strict curfew to prevent the spread of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
On Monday, the local council has passed Curfew Ordinance for COVID-19, which prohibits people of all ages from going out in public places 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and encourages social distancing.
Violators will be asked to go home. If they refuse, they will be arrested and charged, except for minors who will be escorted to their homes.
Parents or guardians found to be negligent will be penalized — a reminder for the first offense, a reprimand for the second offense, and community service for the third offense.
Exempted are government and private sector employees who are going to report for work, health and emergency workers, persons in an emergency situation, those seeking medical help, those on errands to buy essential goods, and local government employees on duty.
