SAN PEDRO CITY — The province of Romblon has closed its doors to any person entering its islands as a precautionary measure against the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), as there were also no more incoming passenger vessels.

Trina Fabic, mayor of Odiongan and one of the key towns in the province, however, said residents who wish to leave the island may do so and take outgoing vessels.

“Going out of the province is allowed but entry is not until mid-April,” Fabic said in a Facebook post on Monday, quoting provisions in the provincial government executive order.

Meanwhile, residents may travel freely within the province and between the islands of Romblon, composed of the three major islands of Tablas, Romblon, and Sibuyan.

Enough supplies

“We will not go hungry or run out of medicines,” Fabic said, adding that cargo ships will be allowed entry subject to precautionary port measures.

People who were already inside the province and had come from abroad or from Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Negros, Lanao and other provinces with confirmed COVID-19 cases were told to undergo a 14-day home quarantine.
