LEGAZPI CITY Authorities recovered unlicensed firearms and suspected illegal drugs from a motorist at a checkpoint in Lupi, Camarines Sur, on Sunday night.

Colonel Roderico Roy Jr., director of Camarines Sur police, said in a report that Wendell Ditan, 38, of Libmanan town, while onboard a motorcycle, was flagged down along Rolando Andaya Highway in Barangay (village) Cabutagan, Lupi at around 7 p.m.

The suspect disembarked from his motorcycle and ran to a grassy area away from police officers. The police gave chase and saw the suspect throw a revolver and suspected illegal drugs from his waist to the ground.

Police were able to catch him and arrest him. Recovered were a caliber 38 revolver, six live ammunitions for the same gun, and a medium-sized sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).
