LEGAZPI CITY — The local council of this city has expanded the coverage of curfew hours to encourage people to stay at home to contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Through an ordinance passed Sunday, the local government declared a curfew from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. not only for minors but to everyone who lives and temporarily stays in the city.
Violators who are not residents of the city will be immediately sent home while residents will be escorted by the barangay curfew enforcement teams.
Exempted are call center agents whose duty fall under curfew hours, medical personnel, emergency response personnel of government, accredited media practitioners, employees of public utility companies performing their duties and vegetable, meat, fish vendors/suppliers in the course of their business.
The declaration will take effect until the declaration of a state of public health emergency in the entire Philippines is lifted.
The World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a pandemic as it has infected more than 150,000 people and killed over 5,000 all over the world. The Philippines has so far confirmed 111 people with COVID-19, including eight deaths.
