LEGAZPI CITY –– The Department of Education (DepEd) in Bicol on Friday ordered all public elementary schools to conduct their final examinations on Monday and Tuesday (March 16 and 17) following the suspension of classes by various local government units across the region due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Gilbert Sadsad, DepEd Bicol chief, issued a memorandum circular on Friday directing all school superintendents to all public elementary schools to conduct the final examinations to all grade school levels to shorten the school calendar as a precautionary measure against the possible transmission of the disease to students and teachers.
Sadsad said after the elementary grade learners took their final examination, the student will no longer report to school but have to stay at home and prepare other school requirements if there are any.
Meanwhile, the teachers and school officials would be on call whenever they are needed.
The memo circular would also apply to public schools earlier ordered to suspend classes./lzb
