NAGA CITY—Expecting a surge of Bicol residents returning from Metro Manila after it was put under “community quarantine”, Mayor Nelson Legacion warned those who would refuse 14-day self-quarantine of arrest.

In an address made through live streaming, the mayor said the city government would consider people returning from Metro Manila as persons under monitoring, or those requiring surveillance for COVID-19 signs.

The Department of Health (DOH) defines persons under monitoring as those who have had a history of travel in areas with confirmed COVID-19 cases but showed no symptoms.

Legacion said he instructed the city health office, police and city lawyers to have those defying the quarantine requirement arrested.

The mayor confirmed that the patient was from the town of Calabanga and had worked for a company in Bonifacio Global City.
