MANILA, Philippines — Motorcycle taxi firm Angkas appealed to its clients to bring their own face masks and head caps as a health protocol to prevent the spread of 2019 coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

In a statement on Thursday, Angkas Chief Transport Advocate George Royeca said bringing own caps is needed as the “disposable caps provided by their riders can still absorb moisture and the virus can latch into the hair.”

“If they really have to ride Angkas, they are reminded to bring their own head caps and face masks,” Royeca said.

Royeca also advised passengers to practice social distancing and “avoid unnecessary travel.”

Clients are also advised to bring sanitizers and alcohol to clean helmets and motorcycle seats, Royeca said.

Sanitation and disinfection of motorcycles, helmets and motorcycle seats are also being conducted by their Angkas riders, Royeca said.
