Puerto Princesa City declares state of public health emergency
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY –– The city council of Puerto Princesa has passed a resolution declaring a State of Public Health Emergency in the city, allocating P75 million to strengthen its bid against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Councilor Victor Oliveros, majority floor leader of the city council, assured the public that they were “aware of the threat and does not want to be caught sitting down” as the COVID-19 scare continues having a fourth (4th) recorded case of a person under investigation (PUI) in the city.
The city resolution adopted the Presidential Proclamation No. 922 issued by President Duterte on Sunday.
“The unused funds from last year will be allocated to purchase masks, suits for health workers, vitamins, and other materials to help the city be more prepared in the prevention and fighting the disease,” he said.
Classes in schools will not be canceled, but a “massive” information education campaign will be in place for the remaining weeks of the school year.
A memorandum order would also be issued prohibiting all city officials from traveling outside the city.
