A 10-year-old boy from Texas in the United States has decided to sell homemade hand sanitizer as people scramble to stock up on sanitary products amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases worldwide.

Miles Barker calls his product “CoroNO Gel,” as per local NBC-affiliate KXAN-TV on March 8. He is selling it for $3 (around P150) per bottle.

“We started to make it and we thought, how about we sell it because since it’s sold out everywhere, how about we sell it and maybe make some money,” the young businessman was quoted as saying.

The 10-year-old makes the hand sanitizer with aloe vera, essential oils and alcohol, according to the report. He said his product meets the 60% alcohol standard set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Barker said he wants to earn $100, although he is reportedly set to exceed his initial goal.

The US has recorded 423 people with COVID-19, while 19 have died as of yesterday, March 9, according to the CDC. Over 109,946 people, meanwhile, have contracted the disease worldwide, while 3,819 people have died, as of this writing. Ian Biong /ra
