Classes in Manila suspended from March 9-15 over coronavirus fears

MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Monday ordered the suspension of classes in the capital city from March 9 to 15 as more cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were recorded in Metro Manila.

The class suspension covers all levels in public and private schools in Manila, Moreno said in a Facebook live.

On Sunday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported four new cases of infection of coronavirus disease, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 10.

Based on the case tracker of the DOH, 23 of the 41 patients under investigation (PUIs) admitted in various hospitals nationwide as of Monday morning for COVID-19 monitoring are in Metro Manila.
