Bicol workers, house helps to get wage increase

LEGAZPI CITY –– The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol has announced Friday an increase of P25-daily for minimum wage earners and P1,000 per month for “kasambahay” or house helpers in the region.

Joel Gonzales, director of DOLE Bicol, said the minimum wage of P310 would become P335 for all establishments regardless of the number of workers.

“The first P10 is set to be given by the first week of April and the P15 on July 1,” he said.

Minimum wage order number 20 was approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board.

Meanwhile, from P3,000, domestic workers in chartered cities and first-class municipalities would receive P4,000 and from  P2,500, workers in the second to sixth class municipalities would get P3,500, Gonzales added./lzb
