Driver critically hurt in Lucena collision

LUCENA CITY –– A driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) was in critical condition after a road accident along the Maharlika Highway in this city early Friday.

The Lucena police reported that Gerard Dandy Bayaua, 34, was driving a Suzuki Jimny SUV when he collided with an oncoming Ford Ranger pickup in one section of the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Isabang around 1 a.m.

Bayaua’s vehicle hit the front left portion of the pickup being driven by Nicasio Radovan III, 49, a physician.

Bayaua suffered serious physical injuries and was unconscious. He was taken to the Lucena United Doctor’s Hospital.

Radovan himself called the police and reported the accident.

The report said Bayaua was out of his lane when the collision happened.

The police said both parties agreed to settle the incident amicably out of court./lzb
