MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Thursday announced that it formed a special investigation task group (SITG) to investigate the shooting incident involving ABS-CBN actress Kim Chiu.

In a statement, QCPD director Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo said that authorities are looking into all possible angles, including that of “mistaken identity.”

Eight other members of the QCPD will also be part of the task group, Montejo said.

The Kapamilya actress and her personal assistant and driver were fired at while inside their vehicle along Katipunan Ave., Quezon City. Two unidentified motorcycle-riding men perpetrated the shooting as Chiu was on her way to a scheduled taping.

Chiu later said that she might be a case of mistaken identity.

“Aside from the testimony of eyewitnesses, our investigators are now gathering other pieces of evidence such as closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) recordings that could have captured the shooting incident or the identity of the suspects,” Montejo said.

The head of QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, Maj. Elmer Monsalve, meanwhile, called on motorists having dash cameras in their vehicles that could have recorded the incident to come forward, saying that it may help in their investigation.
