MANILA, Philippines — The Greenhills Center Management urged the public to “exercise caution in sharing unconfirmed information online” as it reported that a security guard was injured when a former security personnel took hostage around 30 people Monday.
“We have confirmed reports of an ongoing incident in Greenhills, involving hostage taking of some of our employees by a former SAGCOR (Safeguard Armor Security Corporation) security guard,” the management said in a statement.
“A fellow security guard was injured, but has already been brought to the hospital. Our priority right now is to ensure the safety of the employees, and o the public,” it added.
The management said it is closely coordination with authorities.
“Please bear with us as we allow the authorities to handle the situation. We will share further updates as we get more information,” it said.
“For now, we hope for everyone’s cooperation to exercise caution in sharing unconfirmed information online. Thank you,” it added.
According to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, the suspect entered the mall at around 10 a.m.

He was fired from his job and was demanding to speak with his former colleagues, Zamora said.
