Traffic violator found carrying crystal meth

MANILA, Philippines — What could have been only a traffic violation turned into an antidrug operation on Saturday morning in Quezon City.

Cops from the Talipapa Police Station flagged down a man on a motorcycle for not wearing a helmet in Barangay Bahay Toro. But police found out he was carrying more than P100,000 worth of “shabu” or crystal meth.

A report from the Quezon City Police District showed that suspect Jerome Tataro, 28, was driving his motorcycle around 5:30 a.m. at Road 23 corner Shorthorn in Project 8 when police accosted him for not wearing a helmet.

Instead of pulling over, Tataro sped off in an attempt to escape. He was chased by the police and eventually arrested. When frisked, police said the suspect yielded 12 grams of shabu.
