ComVal residents warned about dangers of mining in April 2011, says DENR chief

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources warned residents in Pantukan, Compostela Valley about the danger posed by small-scale mining activities in their area as early as April 2011 after the DENR noticed cracks on the mountainside caused by frequent diggings, Environment Secretary Ramon Paje told Radyo Inquirer 990AM Friday.
