Trough of LPA to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — Mindanao can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA), the state weather bureau said Saturday.
In its 4 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA remained outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility, as it was last spotted 885 kilometers east-southeast of Mindanao.
“Mababa po ang tyansa na [ito’y] maging ganap na isang bagyo (There is a low chance it will develop into a storm),” weather specialist Meno Mendoza said.
The LPA’s trough, however, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao.
The northeast monsoon or amihan, meanwhile, continues to affect both Luzon and Visayas, Pagasa said.
The amihan will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms Metro Manila and the rest of the country, the state weather bureau added.
