Around 400 policemen were deployed to New Clark City (NCC) in Capas, Tarlac, where 445 repatriates from the coronavirus-hit cruise ship in Yokohama, Japan, are being quarantined.
Brigadier General Rhodel Sermonia, Central Luzon police chief, Philippine National Police personnel, who have been securing the Athletes’ Village in NCC since Monday night, were given protective masks.
In a statement, Sermonia said the deployed personnel were instructed to observe maximum tolerance and stay alert to ensure public order and safety.
The repatriates from M/V Diamond Princess were immediately taken to the Athletes’ Village after they arrived at Clark Air Base via two chartered flights around 10 p.m. and 12 midnight on Tuesday.
The cruise ships’ crew and passengers, including a medical team and the flight crew, were subjected to a 14-day quarantine.
Around 30 Filipinos, who had earlier been repatriated from China’s Wuhan City, recently completed quarantine in NCC.
