DIFFUN, Quirino—The remains of a 20-year-old female student, believed to be a murder victim, had been found in a rice field at the village of Isidro Paredes here on Sunday, according to police on Tuesday (Feb. 25).

Police have not yet released the autopsy report on Abbygail Arquero Tan, a Grade 11 student of the Rosario National High School in Santiago City.

Initial reports said her head was battered apparently by a heavy object. Because her remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, investigators said they believed she could have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the farm which quickly drew locals’ attention.

Tan was last seen at school on Feb. 17. She had requested for permission to leave her class at noon on that day to tend to a year-old child who was sick.
