/ 04:08 AM February 21, 2020

Today, Feb. 21, is the 165th birth anniversary of prominent painter Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo. Born in Binondo, Manila, in 1855, Hidalgo built a name for himself as a talented painter. Among his major works recognized in prestigious international exhibits were “Las Virgenes Cristianas Expuestas al Populacho” and “La Barca de Aqueronte.” After Hidalgo’s death on March 13, 1913 in Spain, his body was brought to Manila and buried at Manila North Cemetery. A street in Quiapo, Manila, was named after him after his death.
