ORMOC CITY –– A suspected drug personality was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Barangay Tagnipa, Maasin City around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 11.

Joseph Salvador Siega, 31, considered the city’s top high-value target, went out of a restaurant to smoke a cigarette when the suspects on board a sports utility vehicle arrived and shot the victim to death.

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Nalda, chief of the Maasin City Police Station, said the victim was released from prison last year after applying for a plea bargaining agreement on the illegal drug charges filed against him.

Investigators have yet to identify the motive behind the killing, as well as the identities of the assailants.
