Isko Moreno wants Chinese who spat on cop declared undesirable alien

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has ordered the police to ask for help from the Bureau of Immigration in declaring the Chinese national who spat on a police officer an “undesirable alien.”
“I don’t like him here …. This is how you protect the country [from] this type of [person]. If they can do it in Manila, then they can do it in [other cities]. He is a danger to our community,”Domagoso said.
The 50-year-old Zhou Zi Yi was flagged down by a traffic enforcer in Binondo on Thursday for violating the number coding scheme. However, he tried to escape, leading to a chase.
Zhou was eventually cornered in Tayuman after the sport utility vehicle he was driving hit four other vehicles, including Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau staffer Ryan Salangsang’s motorcycle.
The Manila Police District (MPD) later confirmed to Domagoso that the suspect did not have a valid driver’s license, adding that Zhou merely presented a photograph of a fake ID card bearing a Filipino-sounding name.
The mayor added that the move to deport the foreigner might reveal if he had previous cases involving illegal drugs, noting that the police seized a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) from him when he was arrested.
“[The MPD needs] to coordinate with the proper agencies, particularly PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency), … if there’s a process for it, then he needs to go through that process,” Domagoso said.
He also requested that Zhou’s name be submitted to the Interpol, similar to what the MPD did to another Chinese national last month. That foreigner later turned out to be wanted in his country for illegal drugs.
“We cannot allow him to bail himself out. He might think that it’s easy to get away with crimes he has committed if he knows that he can just pay us to free him,” Domagoso added.
Zhou will face charges for driving without a license and causing damage to property.
