Drug suspect killed in Manila buy-bust
A 22-year-old man was killed in an armed encounter with members of the Manila Police District (MPD) early on Friday.
According to the MPD, Station 9 Drug Enforcement Unit set up an entrapment operation against suspected drug peddler “Nor,” who was later identified as Leonardo “Nor” Ybañez Uy.
Authorities were able to identify Uy, a Malate resident, through his previous criminal records.
The suspect and the poseur buyer met at the corner of Don Pedro and Arellano Streets in Barangay 762, Zone 82, Malate, around 2 a.m.
The undercover officer was able to buy a sachet of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P500 from Uy.
Sensing a setup, Uy reportedly fired at the poseur buyer, Police Cpl. Norman Cayda.
