4 persons now quarantined in Cordillera for nCoV

BAGUIO CITY –– The number of suspected cases of novel coronavirus (nCoV) infection in the Cordillera rose to four as of Friday, local health officials said.

Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, officer-in-charge director of the Department of Health Cordillera, said the patients under investigation (PUIs) are being quarantined at a health facility and are in stable conditions.

“By stable, we mean that they do not have complications and we are just waiting for the confirmatory test results [from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine],” Pangilinan told reporters here.

Pangilinan said three of the PUIs are female and one male aged 2, 23, 27, and 57.

She said two of the suspected cases are from Benguet province, one from Mountain Province, and the other one is from this city.

The 27-year-old woman from Benguet was the first reported PUI in the region.

Pangilinan said all of the four PUIs, who voluntarily submitted themselves for testing and quarantine, had traveled to Hong Kong.

“They are not [Overseas Filipino Workers]. They just visited Hong Kong for a few days,” Pangilinan said./lzb
