Fatal sleep: 2 farmers dead after driver dozes off, sends Tamaraw FX slamming into parked car in Benguet

BAGUIO CITY–Two vegetable farmers died while five others were injured  when the Toyota Tamaraw FX they were riding crashed into a parked car in Tuba town, Benguet province on Sunday (Feb. 3), according to police.

Investigators said the Tamaraw FX was traversing Marcos Highway at the village of Taloy Sur Proper around 8:40 p.m. when its driver fell asleep, causing the vehicle to slam into a delivery van on the roadside.

Police identified the two fatalities as Kevin Patras and Melbert Patras Caligtan, both residents of Poyopoy, Taloy Sur in Tuba.

Both died while being treated at Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC)here.

The injured passengers were also taken to BGHMC for treatment.
