LUCENA CITY — Combined police and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) operatives in Real town in Quezon province
seized about P20,000 worth of illegally cut lumber from Sierra Madre mountain Friday, police said Saturday.

A report from the Quezon police said recovered were 33 pieces of “malaruhat” lumber with a volume of 462 board feet (1.09 cubic meter) worth P20,790 in the underground market.

Acting on a tip, the group went to a road in Barangay Cawayan and found the hot lumber alongside a van being driven by
Ricardo Sollestre, a resident of the said town.
