Cops raid another Makati ‘sex den’

MANILA, Philippines — Thirteen foreign women were rescued from a hotel allegedly being used as a prostitution den by Chinese nationals in Makati City Wednesday night.

Col. Rogelio Simon, Makati City police chief on Thursday said that elements of the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section and Women and Children’s Protection Desk found two Russian, two Vietnamese and nine Chinese women in the suspected sex den along Evangelista Street in Barangay Pio del Pilar at 10:30 p.m.

Several other suspected fronts of prostitution catering to foreigners have been raided by Makati City police in previous weeks and months.

The recent operation was launched after a Chinese asset paid P22,000  maintainers of the alleged sex den.

Law enforcers arrested three Chinese nationals – Kevin Sy, 25, Xiao Lao, 23, and Tong Po, 25, who are all staying in the hotel and are the alleged maintainers of the prostitution ring.

They are detained at Makati City police station while appropriate charges are being prepared against them.

In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, Maj. Gideon Ines, chief of Makati Police Investigation Division, said the establishment employed five Filipino workers.

Ines said police will interview the employees, whose names were not disclosed for their security, for further investigation.

This was the fifth suspected prostitution den that was raided by law enforcers in Makati City so far in January this year.
