WATCH: Bystanders lift car to save woman stuck underneath

A group of bystanders lifted a car to free a woman who was trapped under it after she was run over last Sunday, Jan. 26.

The unidentified woman was crossing a street in the Lower East Side in New York when she was hit by an SUV, as per the New York Daily News on the same day.

The incident left the woman stuck under the car, which was driven by a 65-year-old woman. Aside from hitting the pedestrian, the driver had also bumped another vehicle, leading to chain-reaction minor accidents.

Moments after, a group of bystanders came together to lift the side of the car and help free the woman. Twitter user @colbydroscher uploaded a video of the rescue on his page on the same day.

“Onlookers just lifted the SUV, dragging the victim out,” the netizen said.

In a separate post, he uploaded a photo of the woman out from under the car. She was pictured still lying on the pavement while fire authorities surrounded her.

Following the incident, medics transported the woman to a hospital to treat her pain and bruises. According to the report, the driver was asked to appear in court for failing to yield.  Ryan Arcadio /ra
