CITY OF CALAPAN—A drug bust operation turned bloody in a town in Oriental Mindoro on Tuesday (Jan. 28), leading to the deaths of two suspects.

Lt. Col. Imelda Tolentino, information officer of the regional police, said Crispin Garces Vedano, 33, from the town of Victoria, and an unidentified man allegedly sold shabu, or crystal meth, to an undercover policeman at the village of Sumagui past noon.

Tolentino, citing reports from police involved in the operation, said that when the suspects found they were dealing with government agents, Vedano opened fire with a gun of unspecified caliber. This prompted police to return fire, Tolentino said.
