Ex-village chief nabbed in Catanduanes buy-bust

LEGAZPI CITY –– A former village chief was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Pandan, Catanduanes on Tuesday morning.

Lieutenant Roderick Bino, officer-in-charge of the Pandan police, said Alexander Lopez, 46, former village chief of Canlubi, was arrested after selling a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer in the same village at 6:20 a.m.

Bino said Canlubi was included in the national watch list for illegal drugs and in the top 10 illegal drug priority targets of Catanduanes.

Recovered from the suspect were 37 pieces of small heat-sealed sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P50,000 and .38 revolver with three live ammunition.
