Año: Nobody in the PNP is indispensable

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reminded policemen, particularly rogues in the service, that they can easily be replaced as he stressed the seriousness of PNP Chief Archie Gamboa in taking on the cleansing of the police ranks.

In a statement, Ano supported the recent relief of three police officials in the Visayas who were seen playing golf on weekdays, describing the violation as a “serious breach of discipline.”

“It should not happen that law enforcers are the ones breaking simple regulations. Police service is an honor and privilege that demands commitment at all times, especially that the PNP’s mandate is public safety and order because crime never sleeps,” the interior secretary stressed.

On Thursday last week the PNP Chief relieved Central Visayas police comptroller Col. Dennis Artil; regional finance officer Lt. Col. Richard Bad-ang; and drug enforcement group chief Lt. Col. Glenn Mayam after they were caught playing golf on weekdays.—Jeanette I. Andrade
