A lawyer of Janelle Manahan disclosed Tuesday that her legal team was in the process of finding out the identity of the person or persons who posted online an intimate video clip of their client and her slain boyfriend, Ramgen Bautista.
“We don’t know yet who exactly did it, but we know where to look,” lawyer Luke Espiritu said, when asked whether he knew the people behind the video that went viral on social media websites last week.
But he said he was certain the Bautista siblings had a hand in the posting of the video, which was allegedly kept in Ramgen’s laptop that is in the possession of the siblings.
“The siblings had the opportunity and the motive,” he added.
After Ramgen’s death, his siblings immediately took hold of their brother’s personal belongings, including his gadgets and other devices where copies of the video could have been stored, according to Espiritu.
He said the video was intended to “harass my client” and thus distract or dissuade her from pursuing the case. Espiritu said the tact had already been anticipated by the legal team “because [being harassed] was part of fighting for justice.”
But Ramgen’s mother, Genelyn Magsaysay, shrugged off insinuations that some family members hatched the smear job on Janelle, saying that if ever the family saw it, she was certain they would have kept it hidden.
“We would never expose it in public because it would cause my dead son shame,” she said. “Have pity on him. He’s already dead and yet his reputation is still being besmirched.”—Miko Morelos
