Valenzuela City police arrested four people on Wednesday for estafa through falsification of public documents when they attempted to sell a parcel of land in Bulacan province that was classified as alienable and disposable.

According to the police, suspects Jaime Ricaplaza, Leticia dela Cruz, Elizabeth Yamson and Theodora Rodolfo were trying to sell a 24,700-square-meter land for around P4.3 million, and had required a P100,000 down payment from Joycelin Huang, the prospective buyer.

Huang became skeptical about the offer and reported it to the authorities, who, on finding that the suspects had provided her with falsified documents, set up an entrapment operation at a restaurant in Valenzuela and arrested them after they received bait money of P1.4 million. —MEG ADONIS
