According to the Department of Health, Metro Manila accounted for 37 percent or 1,125 of the 3,011 leptospirosis cases reported nationwide from January to November 2019. The region posted the highest number of cases last year, followed by Central Luzon with 333 cases or 11 percent and Ilocos Region with 297 cases or 10 percent. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
