LUCENA CITY — Three suspected bet collectors for illegal Small Town Lottery (STL) called “bookies” were arrested by anti-illegal gambling operatives in Calauag town in Quezon province Saturday.

In a report, Calauag police reported that Marlon Requiez, Michael Bania and Michael Avillana, were nabbed while gathering money bets in Barangay (village) Viñas around 3 p.m.

Authorities seized several bet collection lists and bet money in different denominations.

The suspects failed to produce legitimate identification cards issued by Piroutte Gaming Corp., the licensed STL operator in the province, the report said.

“Bookies” are illegal STL operations that no longer conduct draws but are just adopting the winning combination of the legal lottery from its central draws here in this city.
