American dies inside bus

An American national in his late 50s died of cardiac arrest while on board a Kellen Transit Inc. bus along Ayala Avenue, Makati City, on Friday night. Dennis Wethly, of 269-A, Zapote 3, Bacoor, Cavite, who was on his way to Baclaran, was seen gasping for breath. He called the attention of conductor Arnulfo Baure who sought the help of a traffic enforcer and brought Wethly to the Makati Medical Center emergency room at 11:14 p.m. He was declared dead on arrival. Woman killed by partner

A woman was killed by her live-in partner after a heated argument inside their home in Manila. Laurita Luchavez, 47, of Block 1 Lot 92, Sitio (sub-village) Damayan in Tondo, died instantly from two stab wounds in the chest. Her alleged attacker and common law husband, Fidel Docil, 51, immediately fled after the attack. He is now the subject of a police hunt. Senior Police Officer 3 Edmund Cabal, of the Manila Police District homicide section, said the incident happened at around 1 a.m. yesterday inside the couple’s house. Cabal said that prior to the incident, Luchavez and Docil were heard quarreling with the latter accusing his partner of neglecting his children by his first wife.  Jeannette I. Andrade

Trike driver stabbed dead

A drunken tricycle driver who allegedly talked too much was stabbed dead by two suspects who were also drinking at the corner of M. de Jesus and St. Martin de Porres Streets in Quezon City before dawn Saturday. The victim was identified as Ginsano Tutor, 48, of Sitio Mendez in Barangay Baesa. 2 robbers killed

Policemen killed in a shoot-out two heavily-tattooed men whom they chanced upon allegedly robbing a woman in Manila at about 1 a.m. yesterday. Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) Sampaloc station 4 were conducting routine patrol along Manga Avenue near Benito Street in Sampaloc when they saw the suspects robbing 36-year-old Christine Camaclang. One of the slain suspects was between 35 and 40 years old, and about 5’10” while the other was between 30 and 35 years old.  Both men bore tattoos on their chest and back. MPD homicide section head Inspector Armando Macaraeg said that the suspects fired shots at the policemen who fired back, hitting both suspects in different parts of the body.
