P72.3-M emergency work fund allotted for Taal residents

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment is allocating an initial P72.3 million for the emergency employment of residents displaced by the eruption of Taal Volcano.

The residents will be mobilized for the rehabilitation of nine affected municipalities in Batangas province, officials said.

Meanwhile, the National Secretariat for Social Action or Caritas Philippines appealed for aid for 20,000 families of evacuees.

Donations can be deposited to the account of CBCP Caritas Filipinas Foundation Inc. through account number 4951-0071-08 at the Bank of the Philippine Islands-Intramuros.
