BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Farmers around Mt. Pulag in Benguet province have harvested vegetables for thousands who had fled the eruption of Taal Volcano and are now cooped up in evacuation centers.

Farmer Catherine Odanos said the first batch of Chinese cabbages, potatoes and chayote from upland Kabayan town has been delivered to the evacuees.

The farmers planned to gather more vegetables from other farmers in the province for distribution to the evacuees on Jan. 24.
