‘N-word:’ Abby Binay receives offensive messages for not suspending classes

MANILA, Philippines — Makati City Mayor Abby Binay has found herself on the receiving end of offensive and insulting remarks, one of which she bared on her Facebook account.

Binay shared Tuesday night screenshots of a private message she received from a Facebook user who gave her the N-word apparently for not suspending classes in Makati following the eruption of Taal Volcano.

“F*ck u n*gga…If you don’t suspend classes right now imma come over there WHOOP yo ass,” the netizen, whose name and profile picture were concealed, told the mayor through an online messaging app connected to Facebook.

“Binay a** n*gga…F*ck n*gga…Almost everyone else suspended,” the Facebook user added.

The mayor expressed disappointment over the said message, saying she has seen “the side of other people’s kids that they don’t show to their parents.”

“What is more scary is there are people who found this post funny!” Binay further pointed out.

The mayor’s post has garnered over 4,200 reactions with 1,100 laughing emoji, 1,700 sad, 943 angry emoji.

Most of the comments, on the other hand, reprimanded the sender of the insulting message.

One user said that “throwing around ’N’ work like its nothing is disturbing,” while another said “You don’t deserve such disrespect.”

Another netizen expressed disbelief over the offensive remarks.

“I can’t believe people would message you like that. Kids these days don’t have the same respect for authority (and) elders,” the netizen commented.
