2 dead, 3 hurt as ambulance falls into ravine in Mt Province

TUGUEGARAO CITY –– Two persons died while three others were injured when an ambulance plunged into a ravine in Bontoc, Mountain Province on Tuesday, authorities said.

Emergency responders said ambulance driver Franklin Angawa, 37, and Earole Kurt Akiate, 21, both from Hungduan, Ifugao died on the spot.

Rexton Duyapat, 20, Nelda Joy Tapyugon, 23, and Anabelle Attang, 32, sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The Bontoc Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the ambulance was bringing a patient to the Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital and was heading to Hungduan Municipal Hospital when it figured in the accident at Barangay Talubin./lzb
