P3M lost as fire razes 3-storey building in Binondo
MANILA, Philippines — Fire razed a three-storey building in Binondo, Manila, Sunday night, causing roughly P3 million in damages, an arson investigator from the Manila Fire Department said on Monday.
SFO2 Emmanuel Gaspar said that the building hit by a four-hour blaze at the corner of Caballeros and Lanzares Streets housed commercial establishments as well as residential units.
He said that fire struck the building at 6:50 p.m. and reached third alarm before it was extinguished by responding firefighters at around 11:24 p.m.
Though not all three floors of the building were damaged by the fire, three or more establishments were gutted including several units which contained Styrofoam, plastic, and office supplies.
No one was reportedly hurt or killed in the incident and investigators have yet to determine what caused the fire, said Gaspar.
