Ex-Pangasinan police chief slain in ambush

The former provincial police director of Pangasinan was killed in a gun attack on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Retired Police Gen. Marlou Chan was declared dead on arrival at the Villaflor Dagupan Doctors Hospital.

Initial reports said Chan was on board a borrowed vehicle when he was shot by the unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants at the junction of Old De Venecia and Calasiao National Road around 2 p.m.

Chan’s driver was unhurt, investigators said.
