MANILA, Philippines — An unidentified man believed to be a robber was killed in an alleged shootout with policemen on Tuesday, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
The police said the suspect, who was on a motorcycle with a companion, robbed at gunpoint a bank teller at 12:45 a.m. in Phase 2, Lupang Pangako, Barangay Payatas B.
They took the teller’s three ATM cards and P4,697 in cash.
Batasan policemen on patrol, however, saw the incident and tried to apprehend the suspects who fired at them, resulting in a shootout.
While one of the suspects escaped, the other was wounded.
He was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.
Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo, the QCPD director, described the still unidentified suspect as 5’-1” in height, of slim build, with fair complexion and tattoos that read “RAD somo,” “VICTOR, Ely Roy,” and “Sputnik.”—Mariejo S. Ramos
