Cloudy skies, scattered rains expected on first Monday of 2020 – Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers are expected to prevail in several parts of the country on the first Monday of 2020, Jan. 6.
In its daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said Bicol region, Romblon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms as the tail-end of a cold front affects Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in high-risk areas during rain showers
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, which will affect the rest of Luzon, will bring cloudy skies with scattered light rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and Quezon.
Occasional to frequent gusts especially in mountainous and coastal areas may prevail, Pagasa said.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will likewise experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

Article continues after this advertisementStrong winds in the northeast direction are also expected over Northern Luzon and eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, and the Visayas, coupled with rough coastal waters, Pagasa added.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have moderate to strong winds in the northeast direction, with moderate to rough coastal conditions.
