MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Railways (PNR) said the person of interest (POI) in the stone-throwing incidents is a minor, noting that their investigation in the case is still ongoing.
“We cannot disclose as the person of interest is a minor, and our legal and security offices are concluding their report. So as it stands we only have a person of interest until the report is concluded,” PNR General Manager Junn Magno told INQUIRER.net in a text message.
Last week the Department of Transportation (DOTr) condemned the stone-throwing incidents that damaged the PNR trains that also posed harm to commuters.
Records from the DOTr showed that there were 14 incidents of stoning of trains from Dec. 2 to Dec. 21 in 2019.
The DOTr previously said they will investigate the controversial incident, noting that they will hold those behind the stone-throwing of PNR trains accountable.
Under the law, a child aged 15 years or under will be exempted from criminal responsibility but will undergo intervention program.
Those aged above 15 years old but below 18 will also be exempted from criminal liability but will be subjected to an intervention program “unless he/she has acted with discernment.”
