MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC)’s Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) on Thursday said they are looking into the case of an unnamed judge who was accused of “facilitating” the release of an intoxicated cabbie in Baguio City.
“We would like to get all available information before we require the concerned judge to comment,” Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez said in a text message to reporters.
Marquez was referring to a taxi driver who was spotted on video allegedly trying to run over a police officer to escape a ticket for a traffic violation on Tuesday (Dec. 31). The cabbie was later brought to the police station for filing of appropriate charges.

In another statement, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año asked SC Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta to probe the judge who reportedly “bullied and shouted” at the police officers in Baguio City Police Station to demand the immediate release of the suspect.
Quoting policemen from Baguio police, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said the judge went to the police station and shouted at the police officers without asking about the incident.
The judge allegedly left the police station with the suspect, DILG said.
